The Gundam type has two half bars, one for phase shift and the other for normal. Despite the slow passing, you need to break the phase shift before you can handle the base armor. Because the end series Gundam has a complete phase shift, weaker units have much more time to break through. Due to a balanced problem with most mobile suits equipped with beam weapons, phase shift resists beam shots.
