Grand Theft Auto III (GTA III) is a computer game published by Rockstar Games in April 1989 for the TV series and in October 2001 for the PlayStation 2, May 2002 for Windows, and November 2003 for the Xbox. This game tells of a nameless who betrayed his girlfriend in a bank robbery, and have to work for a mafia group.

In Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, this figure appears briefly and there he named Claude. It can be concluded that this is the same character with the main character of Grand Theft Auto and Grand Theft Auto 2 is Claude Speed.

The player controls Claude, who can walk or run around the city, driving cars, boats, and airplanes, using a variety of weapons, riding a train, and so on. There is no straight storyline, players can choose the mission to be executable, although some missions can be played only after completing certain missions or after having had a certain amount of money.

Besides the main missions, the player can also run a vigilante mission, paramedic, firefighter and taxi driver. The advantage gained is money, weapons, health, and others.

At the beginning of the game, the player can simply explore the city called Portland. After completing certain missions, it can also enter the other two parts of the city, namely Staunton Island and Shoreside Vale.

After leaving San Andreas and going on a crime spree throughout the country, Claude Speed and Catalina head to Liberty City for a life of crime. During a bank heist, Claude is betrayed by Catalina and her Colombian friend Miguel, and he is shot by her just as they are leaving the scene of the crime. Claude fully recovers....in a prison cell. However, while being transported to a prison, Colombians ambush the prison van for an inmate riding with Claude. Claude and his friend, 8-Ball, escape in the process. Now it is time for revenge. Claude slowly rises through the ranks of the local gangs, gaining trust from local mob bosses and turning on others. Claude gains influence, trust, and most importantly, money along the way. It is time for Claude to rise from the dead and get revenge for what Catalina has done.

The concept that makes GTA what it is, is now in 3D in this release. The game puts you in the shoes of a vicious, albeit novice, criminal. Traditionally, your missions center on the gangs inhabiting the city - each one always has jobs for you to perform, and your prosperity as a criminal depends on your ability to manipulate each gang. Ice a few members of one gang, and you'll gain its rival's favor. Jobs range anywhere from running dope and taking out rivals to sabotage and kidnapping.
